The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has appointed Zou Jiayi as its new president, succeeding founding chief Jin Liqun after a decade of leadership. Zou is a former Vice Minister of Finance and an influential anti-corruption official, known for her role in China’s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.

Her election marks a new chapter for the China-led multilateral development bank. Widely referred to as a “tiger-fighter,” Zou gained recognition for leading investigations into senior officials and is currently a deputy secretary-general of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

Zou’s leadership is expected to shape AIIB’s evolving role in global infrastructure financing, particularly across Asia and the Global South.
