The Velodrome–Manggarai Light Rail Transit (LRT) project in Jakarta has reached 56.8 per cent completion as of June 2025, keeping it on schedule for a 2026 launch. Phase 1B of the project stretches 6.4 km, linking East Jakarta’s Velodrome to South Jakarta’s Manggarai. It includes five stations: Pemuda, BPKP, Pasar Pramuka, Matraman, and Manggarai.

Project officials confirmed the construction progress has exceeded targets, despite the challenges of building in dense and traffic-heavy areas. Civil works, including pier and girder installation and station construction, are ongoing across the entire corridor. Project Director Ramdani Akbar stated that the team is expediting work across all segments in coordination with contractors and local authorities to manage disruptions.

Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), the project developer, aims to complete civil works by the end of 2025. System integration and testing will follow, with trial operations expected in Q3 2026. The LRT extension is designed to ease congestion and relieve passenger pressure at Manggarai Station. Phase 1B is part of the larger Jabodebek LRT network, which serves Greater Jakarta and costs around IDR32.6 trillion (USD2 billion), with Phase 1B accounting for IDR5.5 trillion. The Jabodebek LRT recorded 18 million passengers in 2024 and is operated by Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI).
