After several delays, Bangkok’s updated city plan is nearing completion and is set to be implemented in 2027. Originally drafted in 2013 and planned for rollout in 2019, the plan was postponed for further review of water and environmental zoning. The fourth revision is about 70 percent complete and will be submitted to the Department of Public Works and Town and Country Planning in June 2025.

Following submission, the plan will undergo fine-tuning of land-use colour codes, public consultations, and approval from relevant planning bodies. Once approved, it will enter a 90-day public review period, allowing stakeholders to provide feedback. The plan is expected to take effect in 2027, while current development continues under the 2013 blueprint.
