The commuters in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) can use their Mastercard prepaid, credit, or debit cards to pay for bus rides through a new tap-and-go payment system in the Philippines. In partnership with beep operator AF Payments Incorporation (AFPI), the system allows passengers to directly tap their cards on BGC bus validators, eliminating the need for separate bus tickets. This initiative is part of an expansion of contactless payment options, joining the beep cards and QR codes already in use.

Mastercard’s open-loop transit system, already in use in cities like London and Singapore, offers convenience for daily commuters and foreign tourists alike. Future plans include expanding this system to other transit systems, such as EDSA buses and MRT-3. However, AFPI is working with the government to ensure the smooth implementation of cashless systems across more modes of transport in the country.
