TNB has been conducting a feasibility study to connect Sarawak’s grid with West Malaysia’s as part of the ASEAN Power Grid initiative, potentially enhancing regional renewable energy flow.
Additionally, Sarawak is also working on a broader Borneo grid to connect with Sabah, Kalimantan, and Brunei, aligning with its renewable export goals. Currently, there are investment and political challenges, with calls for multilateral funding to ease costs and political issues, crucial for transforming ASEAN’s energy infrastructure.
