The Philippines’ Department of Transportation (DoTr) has announced plans to commence passenger operations for its first cable car system by 2028. The project aims to connect Taytay to Antipolo City in Rizal, with a station in the proposed Metro Rail Transit Line 4 (MRT-4) extending to Antipolo.

The feasibility study for the cable car system is scheduled to begin in mid-2025, which will determine the project cost, passenger capacity, and other details. The bidding process for the project is expected to start by the end of 2025 or early 2026, with a construction period of approximately two years. This timeline suggests that the cable car system could be ready for operation by 2028.

The proposed MRT-4 is designed to cover a 12.7 km stretch from the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) Ortigas Avenue junction to Taytay, Rizal.
