The Government of the Philippines has launched a railway development plan to boost the economy, reduce traffic, improve connectivity, cut carbon emissions, and enhance food security. The multi-billion-dollar investment will build new rail lines, upgrade existing infrastructure, and introduce advanced railway technologies.

The key projects include the North Luzon Railway Project (The Amianan Express) which is a 1,300-km-long network connecting Pampanga’s Clark Freeport Zone to Cagayan Valley’s Cagayan Export Zone and Mindanao Railway Project (The Eagle Express) which is a 1,500-km-long high-speed rail (HSR) connecting key Mindanao cities, with trains reaching speeds of up to 200 km/hr.  Additionally, the plan also includes new lines in Bicol, Palawan, and Visayas.
