The Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed rail (HSR) project will be entirely funded and led by the private sector, without any financial support from the government. MyHSR Corporation Sdn Bhd (MyHSR) is in the process of evaluating the project, with a preliminary report submitted to the Ministry of Transport (MOT). However, the ministry has yet to assess the report.
Seven local and international consortia, involving three firms each, have submitted concept proposals in response to the Request for Information (RFI) launched by MyHSR in July 2023. The government is expected to shortlist candidates shortly and commence negotiations with the Government of Singapore later in 2024.
