Mitsubishi Power, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), has commenced operations at the second unit of a 2.65 GW natural gas-fired power plant in Rayong province, Thailand. The plant is divided into four units for operation. The overall project includes two gas turbine combined-cycle plants, each with four power trains having a gas turbine, steam turbine, heat recovery steam generator and generator.
Construction works of the entire facility are expected to be completed in Q4 2024. Once operational, power generated from the plant will be sold to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT).
The project is owned and operated by Gulf PD, a joint venture (JV) between Thailand-based Gulf Energy Development and Japan-based Mitsui.
