Thales and SMRT Trains have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate and leverage digital technologies such as data analytics to enhance rail operations and maintenance on the North–South and East–West lines and on the Tuas West Extension of Singapore’s mass rapid transit (MRT) network.

Under the MoU, the companies will share engineering knowledge and rail expertise in various areas and leverage digital technologies such as data analytics and artificial intelligence to utilise the diagnostic data available within the existing signalling and rail systems.

Thales as the technology partner will bring its expertise in communications-based train control (CBTC) signalling and rail control systems and its knowledge of best practices in data analytics technologies.
