Active mobility will be developed under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) with a focus on developing user-friendly, connected and safe pedestrian and cycling infrastructure. Traffic reduction techniques and natural shading for pedestrian pathways are among the measures to be implemented. This is part of a larger strategy to promote green mobility as a key component of city and township development, including low-carbon mobility.

In both urban and rural areas, a low-carbon transportation blueprint will be introduced under the 12MP to assist the development, implementation, monitoring, and assessment of green mobility programmes in Malaysia. Additionally, public transportation accessibility, connectivity, safety, and reliability will be enhanced, along with the promotion of micro mobility services for first and last-mile connectivity.
