Singtel has partnered with South Korea-based Samsung to announce the launch of its 5G Standalone (SA) network in the country. The 5G SA sites will operate on a 3.5 GHz spectrum and will allow applications like self-driving cars, IoT connections and real-time immersive entertainment.
Singtel has added the 28 GHz mmWave spectrum, in addition to the 3.5 GHz and 2.1 GHz bands, to support its 5G rollout in Singapore. Singtel has enabled mmWave in multiple locations around the country, including the Marina Bay Sands Expo, Orchard Road and the Padang neighbourhood.
Singtel has already deployed over 1,000 5G sites across Singapore as part of its 5G SA rollout at strategic locations like Marina Bay, Orchard Road, Sentosa, the Central Business District, Harbourfront and the Central Business District, as well as key residential areas including Jurong East, Woodlands, Punggol, Pasir Ris and Sengkang.
