Thailand has announced that it will only sell zero-emission electric vehicles (EV) and aim to be on the forefront of the EV industry by 2035. Currently, EVs account for less than one per cent of all vehicles on the road.

The former goal of 30 per cent of all registered vehicles transitioning to EVs has been raised to 50 per cent by the end of 2030. Traditional cars witnessed a 26 per cent drop in sales during 2020, while zero-emission EVs saw a 1.4 per cent rise during the same period.
