The south-central province of Ninh Thuan plans to start construction of an LNG-fuelled power complex in the third quarter of 2021. The 6,000 MW LNG power centre project will comprise an LNG-fuelled power plant using combined cycle gas turbine technology, an LNG import terminal with an annual capacity of 4.8 million tonnes (mt), a warehouse with four 180,000 cubic metres LNG storage tanks, and a storage regasification unit with a capacity of 1.2 mt. The first phase of the project will cover 75 hectares and have a capacity of 1,500 MW. It will be developed at an estimated cost of VND 49 trillion. The project is expected to start operations in the third quarter of 2024.
