In partnership with Alam Maritim (M) Sendirian Berhad, Cortez Subsea has completed the first-ever subsea pipeline using the Zap-Lok mechanical connector in offshore Malaysia. The project has used the new technology for faster, cost-effective completion of the subsea pipeline. It resulted in the best average lay rate of 4.7 km in 24 hours and completed the rigid pipelay section in 20 days. According to Cortez Subsea, the lay rate is considerably faster than traditional welded pipelay. The scope of works included engineering, procurement, construction, installation and pre-commissioning of the pipeline system.
