Construction work on the delayed Thai Binh 2 thermal power project in northern Vietnam is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2022. With a designed capacity of 1,200 MW, the power plant will supply 7.2 billion kWh to the national grid upon completion, thus playing an important role in ensuring national energy security. As of April 2020, the project investor, PetroVietnam, has disbursed VND 33 trillion or 80 per cent of the total investment requirements. Besides, a few systems such as the water supply system, wastewater treatment system, and power distribution yard have completed trial runs.
