Myanmar’s EDEN Group will be joined by Thailand’s Global Power Synergy PCL and Japan’s Marubeni Corporation to develop a 400 MW gas-fired combined cycle power plant in Myanmar. For the Thai firm, the deal will be a part of its foreign expansion strategy. The power plant, to be located at Thanlyin, will serve to meet rising demand from the residential and industrial sectors, including the Thilawa special economic zone (SEZ) and the Thanlyin oil refinery improvement project that the PTT group is bidding for.
