Garuda Indonesia has joined Skytrax’s elite five-star airline club list. It has become the seventh airline in the world with a five-star ranking, joining the league of established airlines such as Asiana Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Hainan Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines.

Five-star ranking is awarded to airlines that demonstrate consistently high quality performance across products and services. The airline rating systems assess the standard of an airline’s product and service delivery quality, using more than 800 assessment categories, applied across both the on-board and airport environments. On the ground, airline website/online operations, ticketing, check-in, security, lounges, boarding, departure, transfer, arrival, and branding are assessed. On-board assessment includes a detailed assessment across all areas of on-board products, staff service techniques and efficiency, and associated aspects of staff service.

The recognition comes at a time when Garuda Indonesia is nearing the completion of its “Quantum Leap” journey. The five-star rating took into consideration Garuda Indonesia’s long-haul fleet, which now offers business class flat-bed seating and 32-34 inch seat pitch in the economy class. Customers can also experience the new first and business class five-star service concept rolled out across the Boeing 777-300ER fleet. Further, the company has planned service changes in 2015, which include a transfer of the airline to the new Terminal 3 at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

Some of the recent awards for Garuda Indonesia include the World’s Best Cabin Crew 2014, the Best in Region, Asia and Australasia – Passenger Choice Award 2013, the World’s Best Economy Class – 2013, the World’s Best Regional Airline – 2012, the World’s Most Improved Airline – 2010.
