Singapore’s Pavilion Energy and the international maritime group BW Group have agreed to form a JV – BW Pavilion LNG Pte Limited – to manage, acquire, and charter LNG shipping assets. The new venture will operate one existing and two new LNG carriers. According to Pavilion Energy, the partnership represents its expansion into LNG shipping and an investment in a critical part of the LNG value chain. This move will enable the company to effectively have access to global LNG supplies. In April 2013, Singapore’s state-owned investment company Temasek Holdings set up Pavilion Energy to monitor its LNG operations (both upstream and downstream facilities – storage and regasification). The BW Group specialises in oil and gas transportation with a fleet of 113 vessels, including LNG carriers.
