Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) has announced that 5G network coverage was around 50 per cent, with 3,900 sites across Malaysia, as of the end of 2022. This figure is higher than the company’s 40 per cent coverage target for the year. DNB is now aiming for 80 per cent 5G coverage by the end of 2024. Once fully deployed, the network will cover around 20 million customers in Malaysia.
In Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor, DNB has achieved around 90 per cent 5G coverage while in Johor, Malacca and Negeri Sembilan, around 50 per cent population cover has been recorded as of the end of 2022.
Sweden-based Ericsson has been appointed by DNB to deploy the 5G network across Malaysia.
