The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission has announced plans to implement six National Fiberisation and Connectivity Plan (NFCP) projects for 2020. It has allocated RM 3 billion for the current year’s NFCP initiatives, fully funded through the Universal Service Provision Fund. The six NFCP projects will cover both cellular and fixed broadband services throughout Malaysia. NFCP 1 implementation began on February 15, 2020 whereas NFCP 2 is still awaiting the submission of proposals from eligible licensees. Further, requests for proposal for NFCP 3 were issued on February 14, 2020. The submissions will close on May 12, 2020. NFCP 4 is scheduled for the second quarter of 2020 while NFCP 5 is expected to start in the first quarter of 2020. The final NFCP 6 is planned to begin in the fourth quarter of 2020.
