The Vietnam Expressway Investment Corporation has opened a section of the Noi Bai–Lao Cai highway. The commissioned 26 km, six-lane stretch was constructed by Posco Engineering and Construction at a total investment of over 2.5 trillion dong ($120 million). The section is part of a $1.2 billion, 245 km road project to link Hanoi to the northern province of Vinh Phuc. Construction work on the remaining sections is scheduled to be completed by June 2014.
