State-owned Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) is working out measures to complete the work on key electricity network projects. The key projects include the 500/220 kV Long Bien-Bac Ninh 2 transmission line; 220 kV Thai Binh-Tien Hai-Truc Ninh, Quang Ngai-Quy Nhon, Di Linh-Bao Loc and Tan Uyen-Thuan An transmission lines; and 220 kV Nong Cong, Phu My, Can Tho and Phuoc An transformer stations.

In addition, EVN and the Ministry of Industry and Trade have worked with the People’s Committees of southern Dong Nai, Binh Duong and south central Binh Thuan provinces to address land clearance issues for the 500 kV Vinh Tuan-Song May-Tan Uyen line and the 500 kV Tan Uyen transformer station. The line will be 243 km long, estimated to cost VND 5.33 billion. It is expected to evacuate electricity from the Vinh Tan thermal power station to the national grid and will meet the demand for load growth of the Binh Thuan, Dong Nai and Binh Duong regions by linking other major systems in the south-central region.

EVN has also pledged to commence operations of the first turbine of the Vinh Tan 4 thermal power plant (TPP) as well as the test run of the first turbine of the Thai Binh TPP. By the end of November 2017, EVN had commenced the construction of 196 power projects and put into operation 180 grid works with a capacity of 110-500 kV.
