Thailand’s TOT Public Company Limited has awarded eight bids for the supply of optical fibre cables and related equipment for the installation of a national broadband network across the country. The bids have been awarded at a total price of 3.2 billion baht (25 per cent lower than the reserve price of 4.27 billion baht set by TOT). Among the eight contract winners, three companies have been awarded contracts to supply optical fibre cables at a combined price of 1.89 billion baht. These comprise the Consortium of B and K, Fu Yuan Business, and Consortium of Thai Fibre-Optic. Advanced Information Technology (AIT) won bids to supply optical line terminals (at a price of 684 million baht), and indoor and outdoor switching systems (at 169 million baht) to TOT.  The contract to supply wireless access points was awarded to SVOA Plc at 240 million baht. At the same time, TOT awarded bids worth 239 million baht for the supply of distribution network components to three companies – Lee Kim Trading, Interlink Communication, and Global Maze. The supply of optical fibre cables and broadband equipment to TOT is expected by April 2017.
