The Thailand Regional Bureau of Transportation and Traffic Promotion, Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning, has announced plans to launch the tender for the construction of the 41.7 km Phase I of the Phuket-Phang Nga LRT on a PPP basis in 2019. The Thailand Mass Rapid Transit Authority will assist the Ministry of Transport in the preparation of the tender documents and oversee the project. The LRT line will span 58.52 km from the international airport to Phang Nga, covering 21 stations of which 19 will be at grade, one will be underground and one will be elevated. It will be developed in two phases at an estimated cost of THB 39.41 billion. Construction is expected to begin in 2020 and passenger services in 2023.
