Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) plans to auction 900 MHz and 1800 MHz airwave frequencies in May 2018. At present, Total Access Communication operates the 1800 MHz spectrum with state-owned CAT Telecom.

The bidding process is scheduled to begin in May 2018 and conclude in June 2018. The frequency transfer is expected to be completed by August 2018. There will be one 15-year licence for 5 MHz in bandwidth on the 900 MHz spectrum, with a starting price of $1.14 billion. Further, there will be three 15-year licences for 15 MHz of bandwidth on the 1800 MHz spectrum, with a starting price of $1.13 billion.
