Cambodia-based Telcotech, a subsidiary of Ezecom, has announced plans to launch the first submarine cable in Cambodia. The plan for the 1,300 km Malaysia-Cambodia-Thailand submarine cable was announced in June 2013. It is expected to commence operations by March 2017. The cable will link to the Asia-America Gateway, an existing 20,000 km undersea data highway, which connects the eastern regions to the US. The total cost of the project is $70 million, having a total capacity of 30 Tbps. The Chinese submarine network provider Huawei Marine Networks is building the cables and the implementation is being carried out by Symphony Communi-cation (Thailand) and Telekom (Malaysia).
