DBS Bank has appointed Taimur Baig as its chief economist and managing director (MD) for Group Research, effective October 9, 2017. Baig, who succeeds David Carbon, comes with nearly 20 years’ experience in the Asian region. Prior to joining DBS, Baig worked as the principal economist at the Economic Policy Group at the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Previously, Baig had spent nearly a decade at Deutsche Bank AG’s Singapore office, where his last position was MD and chief economist, Asia. Baig holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and attended Wabash College and the London School of Economics for his B.A.
