A JV of Japan-based Sumitomo and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Limited (Sumitomo-MHI) has secured the contract from the Philippines DOTr to maintain MRT Line 3 (MRT-3) in Manila. Sumitomo-MHI had designed and built the MRT-3 line in 2000 and maintained the system until 2012. South Korea-based Busan Universal Rail Incorporated operated the system until November 2017.
