Malaysia’s Sapura Energy Berhad has appointed Datuk Mohd Anuar as the COO and CEO Designate with effect from March 23, 2021. He will take over responsibilities from Tan Sri Shahril Shamsuddin who is retiring after leading the Group for more than 25 years. Datuk Mohd Anuar had joined Sapura Energy as an independent director in August 2020. He has previously worked for Shell Companies as chairperson in Malaysia as well as for Petronas as executive vice president and CEO, Upstream. He was critical in enhancing capital project execution, lowering operations cost, and establishing the profitable low-cost and marginal field subsidiary Vestigo Petroleum at the national oil company.
