The Philippine Board of Investments, Department of Trade and Industry, has approved the provision of fiscal incentives to Satrap Power Corporation for its biomass energy project. The power project involves the construction and operation of a combined 10 MW biomass plant in Barangay Nagpanaoan, Santa, Ilocos Sur. The plant will use municipal solid waste and agricultural waste to generate 3 MW and 7 MW of energy, respectively. Satrap is expected to sell the generated energy to the NGCP or the Ilocos Sur Electric Cooperative Incorporated. The plant will entail an investment of PhP 1.16 billion and is likely to be operational by April 2019.
