The Myanmar government is expected to develop 66 kV transmission network infrastructure, which will enable Dawei in the Tanintharyi region to gain electricity access.

The infrastructure will involve the construction of a 60 mile long 66 kV transmission line linking Dawei to a power station in Mawlamyine through Ye township in southern Mon state, along with a KV5 substation in Ye. The substation will evacuate electricity from the main Mawlamyine power station and transmit power to a third station in Dawei. The Myanmar government is expected to allocate funds for the project in the upcoming 2018-19 budget.
