Vietnam-based operator MobiFone has announced the activation of its pilot 4G LTE network in Hanoi, Danang and Ho Chi Minh City. The move follows the launch of trial LTE services by Viettel Telecom in Ba Ria Vung Tau province in end-2015and LTE-Advanced technology by VNPT-Vinaphone in Phu Quoc and Ho Chi Minh City in January 2016. Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications is expected to formally award 4G licences in late 2016 or early 2017.
