MMC Port Holdings Sdn Berhad (MMC Ports), a member of the MMC Group, has won two awards at the 2017 Global Ports Forum Awards. The awards, given to Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) for Process Compliant Port/Terminal of the Year, and to Johor Port Berhad (JPB) for Bulk Liquid Port/Terminal of the Year, were in recognition of the ports’ contributions as well as for their roles and achievement in their respective areas.

The event brought together members from the ports, ecosystem to discuss current and future port strategy and developments, port automation, port finance and port efficiency, and to recognise the most valuable contribution and achievements made by organisations and professionals in different areas of the ports and terminals industry.

PTP was the first Malaysian port to be awarded for IMS (Integrated Management System) certification in the year 2008, which integrates ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. In 2015, PTP was certified with one more management system, ISO 27001. The port adopts prudent risk management principles and systematically reviews and improves current processes through management programmes, periodic audits and continual improvement initiatives. Moving forward, PTP, which is also the biggest transhipment terminal port in Malaysia, has announced that it will upgrade its ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 to the latest 2015 version.

The Johor Port liquid bulk terminal provides specialised facilities to cater for both edible and petrochemical cargoes. The terminal is equipped with a network of pipelines, featuring several high capacity loading arms to allow liquid bulk cargo to be piped directly to tank storage farms at a high transfer rate.
