The Ministry of Energy has announced FiT rates for renewable power generators. These will be the same as fossil fuel power generators, that is, THB 2.40 per kWh. The new rates will be applied to new power plants with immediate effect.
Earlier, in March 2018, the ministry had decided to stop granting licences to investors using renewable resources for the next five years. However, licences continue to be in place over the next decade for 2,715 MW of solar power, 1,500 MW of wind power, 944 MW of biomass, 780 MW of biogas, and 139 MW and 12 MW of community and industrial waste-to-energy, respectively.
