Manila Water Company, Inc. has acquired a 51 per cent stake in Indonesia-based water concessionaire PT PAM Lyonnaise Jaya. It has inked a share purchase agreement with Suez Environment to acquire the share in Jakarta’s water distributor. The completion of the acquisition is subject to specific government and regulatory approvals in Indonesia. PT PAM Lyonnaise has been operating the water supply concession contract of Western Jakarta since 1997, under a 25-year concession deal with PAM Jaya, a state-owned firm that is fully owned by Jakarta province.
