The Makati city government has announced plans to develop a subway system on a PPP basis at an investment of $3.7 billion by 2025. A consortium, consisting of IRC Properties Incorporated, the Greenland Holdings Group, Jiangsu Provincial Construction Group Company Limited, Kwan On Holdings Limited, Shanghai MinTu Investment Holdings and China Harbour Engineering Company Limited, is the developer and secured the original proponent status in June 2018. Makati is one of the 16 cities in the Manila metropolitan area. The subway system will span 11 km from Ayala Avenue to the Makati Aqua Sports Centre. It will provide access to the MRT, Pasig river ferry and Metro Manila subway. Construction is expected to commence in end 2018. The daily ridership is estimated at 700,000 passengers.
