Lim Chow Kiat has taken over as the CEO of GIC Private Limited, effective January 1, 2017. Kiat succeeds Lim Siong Guan, who will retire as group president and become adviser to GIC’s group executive committee. Prior to this, Kiat was serving as deputy group president and group chief investment officer (CIO). Meanwhile, Dr Jeffrey Jaensubhakij, who served as deputy group CIO and president, public markets, has been promoted to the designation of group CIO. In 2008, Kiat was heading the fixed income, currency and commodities department of the group while serving as deputy president of GIC Asset Management. From 2009 until 2011, Kiat was responsible for GIC’s investments and relationships in Europe, Africa and the Middle East until he became deputy group CIO in 2012, group CIO in 2013 and thereafter, assumed his role as deputy group president. Kiat is a graduate from Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University.
