The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) has proposed a Japan-China consortium to build an HSR system in Thailand. The planned railway system will link the Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok, Suvarnabhumi Airport in Samut Prakan province and the U-Tapao Rayong-Pattaya International Airport in Rayong province. It forms a part of the Eastern Economic Corridor in Thailand.
