Manulife Asset Management has appointed Jason Chong as the new chief executive officer (CEO) in Malaysia, effective May 1, 2017. Chong succeeds former CEO and executive director, Wong Boon Choy, who will transition to the role of adviser. In his new capacity, Chong will be responsible for the growth and development of Manulife Asset Malaysia’s integrated wealth and asset management business. Chong joined the company in 2010 and was appointed a member of the board of directors in 2012. Most recently, Chong served as chief investment officer at Manulife Asset Management (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. Additionally, he has also worked with OSK-UOB Unit Trust Management Bhd, and Merrill Lynch Malaysia/Smith Zain Securities Sdn Chong holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Finance (Honours) from the University of Southern New Hampshire, USA.
