A joint venture (JV) of three Japanese companies – Penta-Ocean Construction Company, Toa Corporation and Rinkai Nissan Construction Company – and two Indonesian companies – PT Wijaya Karya and PT Pembangunan Perumahan – will commence the construction of a new port in Subang Regency, West Java. The project will be implemented in three phases and is expected to be completed by 2036. Under the two-stage first phase, a container terminal with a capacity of 250,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) and a car terminal with a handling capacity of 217,000 units per year will be constructed. The port will be developed in the first phase by 2021, the second by 2026 and the third by 2036, with the final combined capacity of the container terminals being 7.5 million TEUs and car terminals capable of handling 600,000 vehicles.
