Vietnam’s EVN NPT subsidiaries – Central Power Project Management Board (CPMB) and Northern Vietnam Power Projects Management Board (NPMB) – have recently commissioned two high voltage grid stations in Vietnam.

CPMB has commissioned the VND 777 billion, 500 kV Lai Chau substation to evacuate electricity from the hydroelectric power plants in Lai Chau and Son La provinces to the national electricity system. The project involved the construction of a new 500 kV  substation at Lai Chau equipped with 500/220/35 kV, 450 MVA (two units) and 220/110/22kV, 250 MVA transformers, along with two associated 500 kV and 220 kV transmission lines. It also involved the construction of a 1.5 km long, 500 kV two-lane branch line connecting the Lai Chau substation with the 500 kV Son La-Lai Chau line.

NPMB commissioned the 220 kV Phu Tho substation, which will meet the load growth of Phu Tho province. The project involved the construction of the Phu Tho substation equipped with a 220/110/22 kV, 250 MVA transformers.
