The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) plans to retrofit three more old bridges in Ilocos Norte in order to strengthen their foundation. These are the Bungro Bridge in Bacarra, Davila Bridge in Pasuquin and the Patapat Bridge in Pagudpud. About PHP 1 billion has been allocated for each bridge. Earlier, in 2017, the Werr Corporation International through a JV with Viking Construction and Supply also rehabilitated the old Gilbert Bridge in Laoag City at a cost of PhP 200 million
