Dongfang Electric Corporation Limited has signed an EPC contract to build Phase II of the Sulewana Poso Unit 1 electric power plant (PLTA Poso I) in Poso district, central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The total investment for the phase is about $80 million. The construction of Phase I of the project has been completed while that of Phase II will commence soon. The Poso hydropower complex includes three stations, namely, PLTA Poso I, II and III, with a cumulative capacity of 715 MW. Poso I, with a planned capacity of 4×30 MW will be executed in two phases. Phase I involves the construction of a 2×30 MW power plant along with a dam in the upper reaches of the river, while Phase II entails the construction of another 2×30 MW power plant. Poso II, having a production capacity of 195 MW, commenced its operations in 2013. A Chinese company, Shaghai Ever International, is the EPC contractor for this project. Presently, Poso III is in the preliminary stage and is planned to have a capacity of 4×100 MW. It is expected to be completed by 2022
