The construction work for the HSR linking China to Thailand has begun. Under the contract, Thailand will pay for the construction by issuing bonds or seeking loans from banks. China will design the project and provide engineers, track systems and equipment. The 252 km Phase I of the project connecting Bangkok with the north-eastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima will be built at an estimated cost of $5.4 billion. The project is expected to be completed by early 2023.
