To mark the start of work on the Nam Ngum 4 hydropower project, the foundation was laid on the bank of the Nam Ngum river in Xieng Khouang province, Laos, on January 25, 2018. The project will be constructed by the China National Heavy Machinery Corporation (CHMC), an affiliate of Sinomach. It will have an installed capacity of 240 MW. The construction of the plant is expected to be completed within five and a half years. The project aims to help upgrade local electricity infrastructure and promote the development of Laos’s electricity industry.
