The Philippines’ Department of Transportation has commenced construction works on the Manila LRT-2 East (Masinag) extension project. The line will span 4.19 km from Santolan in Pasig to Masinag in Antipolo. It will cover two stations (Emerald Station in Cainta, Rizal, and Masinag at the Masinag Junction in Antipolo). The project will entail an investment of PhP 1.17 billion and is expected to be completed by August 2018. Once commissioned, the average daily ridership on the line is expected to be 80,000 passengers.
