Singapore-based Changi Airport and Malaysia-based AirAsia Group were awarded at the World Travel Awards Asia and Australasia held in Vietnam.

Changi Airport was adjudged Asia’s leading airport. The airport has a swimming pool, a cactus garden, two free 24-hour cinemas, a six-metre waterfall and a lounge to sleep in.

AirAsia won two awards – Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline and Asia’s Leading Inflight Service. While the airlines received the former accolade for the fourth time, the award in the latter category is its first. The company serves 120 destinations with its operational fleet of 170 aircraft and has operations in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, India and Japan.

The World Travel Awards (Asia and Australasia) acknowledge and reward excellence across all sectors of the travel and tourism industry in the Asia-Pacific region. The winners are chosen by thousands of travel professionals and high-end tourism consumers. Airlines are judged on customer satisfaction and service quality, overall business performance, product innovation, staff relations and development, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and contribution to local community, commitment to sustainable policies and fulfilment of their long-term corporate vision.
