Indonesia Best Banking Brand Award 2017 was awarded to four foreign banks, six mixed banks, 13 regional development banks, three state banks, 23 private foreign exchange banks, seven private non-foreign exchange banks and seven sharia banks.

The awards are organised by Warta Ekonomi magazine to recognise achievements in banking services. Warta Ekonomi did comprehensive desk research across 1,800 respondents and the companies were judged based on various criteria such as the bank’s history, operations, digital technology, and the reputation of its products and services.

The awards are given as appreciation to banking institutions that have reflected good performance in terms of building the confidence of consumers (both creditors and debtors).

The first stage of evaluation was based on assessing financial performance including various indicators such as measurement earning (rentability), capital, credit risk and liquidity risk. The second stage was based on consumer choice and involved face-to-face interviews and telephonic surveys with customers in five major cities in Indonesia, namely, Jakarta, Bandung, Medan, Surabaya and Makassar.

Bank Riau Kepri has won the “Good Financial Performance” award in the category of regional development banks whereas PT Bank Tabungan Negara Tbk has won the “Good Financial Performance” award in the category of BUMN banks (state-owned enterprises).
