Thailand-based mobile operator Advanced Info Service (AIS) has introduced 1 Gbps download speeds under the Next G banner for its customers. The new network leverages the operator’s tri-band carrier aggregation LTE-A network (including 4×4  MIMO] and 256 QAM functionality), alongside a super Wi-Fi network. The former is said to deliver stand-alone downlink transmission speeds of up to 700 Mbps, while the latter supports 650 Mbps speeds. It is reported that the new network is available in major provinces nationwide. Moreover, AIS has installed 49,000 LTE BTSs alongside 80,000 Wi-Fi hotspots.
